Freeze internet connection for a specific device or all devices assigned to a profile.
Focuses allow an app category or selected apps to be blocked from accessing the internet. This refines the functionality of Device Internet Freeze, allowing it to be targeted to limit access for specific. Blocking Internet access can be done on a schedule. Existing Internet Freeze schedules set in the HomePass by Plume app will appear as Focuses in the Plume Home app.
Focuses have three possible states. Upcoming Focuses will be enabled on the set schedule. Active Focuses are currently blocking Internet access. Disabled Focuses are turned off but can be reactivated as needed.
Creating a new Focus
- On the Profiles page you will need to scroll down in any profile to find the Focuses section. Tap the + button to add a new Focus.
- Add a name to the Focus by tapping on the Focus name field. This should open the device's keyboard.
- Focuses can be set for profiles or devices. A device must be added to a profile before a Focus can be applied. In the Profiles and device section tap on a profile to select/open it. Select or deselect a device by tapping on it. Tap Next to proceed.
- Selecting the All tab will apply an Internet freeze to the device. Selecting the Custom tab will allow app categories and specific apps to be selected.

- Note: Apps will be listed only after they have sent traffic on the network. Unlisted apps will be blocked once traffic is sent, if the category is blocked.
- Select a duration type. Three options are available. Select either One-time, Recurring, or Indefinite in the Duration section.
- A One-time block allows the start time and duration to be set. A One-time block can only be set to start in the next 24 hours when being created. However it can be reused as often as needed. Tap the Start time to set it and tap the Duration to set the length. Tap the + button to add the time to the Focus.
- A Recurring block uses a schedule to apply the Focus. A Recurring block will continue being activated on schedule until the Focus is disabled or deleted. Tap the Start time and End time to set the time. Tap the Days to select the days of the week. Tap the + button to add the time to the Focus. Multiple periods can be added to a Recurring Focus.
- An Indefinite block will apply the Focus continuously. No other actions are needed other than selecting the Indefinite tab.
- The Create button at the bottom of the screen will create and apply any Focus.
Managing a Focus
A Focus can be disabled, edited, duplicated, or deleted once created. A list of all created Focuses can be found wherever Focuses are shown by tapping View all or by tapping the clock icon at the top of the Profiles page.
- In the View all page for Focuses you can sort the Focuses using tabs. The options available are based on the current status of each Focus: All, Active, Upcoming, and Disabled.
- On any Focus, tap the ellipsis button in the top right corner of the Focus tile you wish to modify.
- Four options are available for modifying a Focus: Disable Focus, Edit Focus, Duplicate Focus, and Delete Focus. Deleting a Focus removes it from the list. Tap an option to continue.
A Focus will be marked as Disabled on the tile for that Focus wherever it is displayed. It cam be reenabled by using the option menu and selecting Enable Focus.
The Edit Focus option will open the Focus creation flow with the current information filled in. Proceed through the Focus creation flow to make any changes needed.
When Duplicate Focus is selected an identical Focus will be created with a blank name but all other information filled in. Proceed through the Focus creation flow to make any changes needed.
What will the user see when frozen?
When a device is frozen, it will not be able to access content. How that is displayed depends on the content you are trying to access. If you try to load an HTTP site, you will be redirected to the captive portal screen. However, if it is an HTTPS site, the page will simply timeout or say it cannot be reached.
Plume also gives you the ability to pause internet access on a device or person instantly through the Time Out feature.
